History of Salinas - Ecuador
 
In old days it was a small fishermen’s village, on June 30, 1929 it was established as a rural parish of Santa Elena canton, to which it belonged until December 22, 1937; then by official decree signed by President, Gral. Alberto Enríquez Gallo and published in the Official Registry Nº 52 on December 27th  of the same year, its category was changed to canton. its capital is Salinas, principal  tourist attraction  of the Ecuadorian coast, and it is formed by the rural parishes: Ancón, Anconcito, and José Luies Tamayo (Muey)
 
 
 


Through out the year, especially from January to May, the city of Salinas is visited by thousands of tourist from all around the world, who come to enjoy the marvelous beaches, because the warm and calm sea offer all the safeties for swimmers and sea sports. Also, Salinas is a safe port for numerous boats, dedicated to sport fishing, which is very rich in these waters.
